Antique Rosewood Metal Carpenters Square Angle Level Ruler Star Tool Co 1870s
DESCRIPTION
Antique metal carpenters square measuring ruler tool with rosewood handle and brass attachment. Used by skilled artisan carpenters in the late 19th century this metal square was used to mark 45 degree angles for measuring joists, trusses and stairways. The Star Tool company of Middletown Connecticut only made tools from 1872 to 1878 and today they are highly collectable and sought out. This example has a 6 inch beam which has 1/16s graduations. All markings are readable but steel does have staining. Handle is stamped with the previous owners name G H Bennett.
